Types Of Mobility Scooter
There are many different types of mobility scooters currently available. All currently available mobility scooters can be divided into three basic groups.
It is a good idea to consider which type of mobility scooter best suits your unique requirements before you approach a supplier. Below we have highlighted key points about each type of mobility scooter.
Portable Mobility Scooters:
- Portable mobility scooters are the smallest and lightest type of mobility scooter and can be easily dissembled or folded for easy transport in the back of a car
- They are highly maneuverable and have a much smaller turning circle than other mobility scooters, making them ideal for travelling in crowded areas, and are also suited to both indoor and outdoor usage
- They have a Travelling range of 10-15 miles per full charge, a Top speed of 4mph, and can carry a maximum weight of around 20 stones
Mid Range Mobility Scooters
- Mid range mobility scooters are larger than portable scooters and are therefore less transportable than portable mobility scooters
- They offer much greater user comfort and have a greater travelling range than portable mobility scooters
- They have a Travelling range of 20-25 miles per full charge, a Top speed of 4mph, and can carry a maximum weight of around 20-25 stones
Class 3 Mobility Scooters
- Class 3 mobility scooters are the largest and least transportable type of scooter
- They are fully road legal and offer the greatest level of comfort to the user
- They are fully road legal and have the greatest travelling range of any mobility scooter
- They have a Travelling range of up to 35 miles per full charge, a Top speed of 8mph, and can carry a maximum weight of upto 25 stones
