Mobility Scooter Optional Extras Extended Warranty Package: When you buy your mobility scooter it will normally come with a fully inclusive 12 month warranty although many suppliers offer upto three years warranty. You will normally be given the option to take out an additional extended warranty package of between 1-5 years. Many people are put of the idea of taking out an extended warranty package, believing that they are a waste of time. However, it is worth remebering that a typical call out charge, without warranty, would be upto £80 and you would still have to pay for parts and labour on top of this. You should also consider that some companies won't even come out to attend breakdowns on mobility scooters that are out of their warranty period. Mobility Scooter Insurance: there is no current legal requirement to take out mobility scooter insurance, however you would be wise to take out some level of insurance cover. Third party insurance would probably be the best cover as this would cover you against accidental damage to other people and property. Shopping Basket: This is a good option if you plan to use ths scooter for trips to the local shops. Seat covers: These protect the seat from getting wet, should you have to leave the scooter outside (e.g. when shopping). Scooter Cape: this protects the user from getting wet when using the scooter during poor weather conditions. Scooter Canopy: this offers complete protection from the elements, helping to keep both the user and the inside of the mobility scooter dry. Storage cover: this protects the scooter when its not in use.
